Jordanian-Algerian committee to meet Sunday

Ammon News -The meetings of the Jordanian-Algerian Joint Preparatory Technical Committee, in its 9th session, will start in Amman on Sunday and will discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially economic ones.

The Secretary General of the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, trade and Supply, Dana Zoubi and Algerian Ambassador Noureddine, Khandoudi, Director General of Arab Countries, will chair the meetings, which are held on Sunday and Monday, with the participation of representatives of the relevant ministries and institutions from both countries.

On Tuesday, the meetings will be chaired by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Minister of Labor Yousef Shamali, and his Algerian counterpart Minister Ali Aoun.

During the first quarter of this year, Jordan’s trade balance with Algeria achieved a surplus of 15 million dinars.

Jordanian exports to Algeria grew during the first quarter of 2023, reaching nearly 23 million dinars, compared to 13 million for the same period last year, according to foreign trade data issued by the Department of Statistics (DoS).

As for the Jordanian imports from Algeria, they decreased nearly 8 million dinars during 2023 first quarter, compared to the same period last year, which was estimated at 38 million dinars.

The volume of trade exchange between Jordan and Algeria during the first quarter of this year amounted to about 31 million dinars, compared to about 51 million dinars for the same period last year, according to statistical data.
